Futures Institute is dedicated to enhancing social and economic development in the fields of HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, child survival and infectious diseases. We do this by providing tools and technical assistance in policy, planning, modeling, resource allocation and evaluation. Much of our work uses computer modeling to examine the impact of interventions, including new technologies, in averting new infections, deaths or unplanned pregnancies.

Health Systems Specialist

Futures Institute is seeking a health systems specialist with strong quantitative skills to contribute to a multi-laterally funded project that supports planning, costing and budgeting for health in developing countries. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing costing tools (e.g., iHTP, SPECTRUM, MBB, Core Plus, etc).
In collaboration with WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNDP and several other international organizations, Futures Institute is developing a new computer based tool for planning, costing and budgeting health plans in low and middle income countries. The tool is the stage of pilot testing. The Futures Institute needs a person to help with continuing development of the tool as well as training and implementation.
The position will require international travel and the ability to work well with developing country counterparts and to support capacity building. Candidates should have a relevant post-graduate degree (PhD, MPH, MS, etc.) or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of experience in international public health. Proficiency in a second language is a plus. The position is located in Glastonbury, but candidates with long and extraordinary experience may potentially negotiate an off-site location.

Senior Policy Analyst

We are seeking a health specialist with strong quantitative skills to contribute to a USAID-funded project that supports policy, advocacy and planning for reproductive health and HIV. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills along with knowledge of policies and programs in the fields of HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health. Responsibilities include contributing to or leading project teams on activities including data analysis, projections of future consequences, analysis of impact, cost and cost-effectiveness of programs. We are particularly interested in candidates who can conduct a variety of quantitative tasks, including computer modeling, simulation, and complex analyses. The position will require international travel and the ability to work well with developing country counterparts and to support capacity building. Programmer/Developer

Futures Institute has an immediate opportunity for a full time entry level programmer. Programmer will be required to develop, maintain and support computer modeling applications. Programmer will work closely with senior modeling and programming staff to translate analytical models into desktop applications using Embarcadero Delphi. Individual should possess BA/BS Computer Science/Math or related degree, team-player attitude, and strong incentive to learn in a small company environment.
